What To Expect

Bodywork/massage:
Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in one of our specially themed, warm, comfortable, quiet rooms. Soft and relaxing music will be played to help you fade away into a state of relaxation. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

Will lubricant be used?
We use Biotone massage oil, and lotion. The lubricants are used to permit your muscles to be worked on without excessive friction to the skin. These lubricants hydrate the skin and are readily absorbed. Essential oils may be added to enhance relaxation.

Must I be completely undressed?
You may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort, but you will be covered by a sheet and blanket at all times, only the portion of your body that is being worked on will be exposed. The therapist will not be present when you disrobe.

What parts of my body will be massaged?
You and the therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck and shoulders.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Before you begin your session, you will fill out a short medical form, and then the therapist will ask some general health questions. It is very important that you inform the therapist of any health problems or medications you are taking.

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. It can also promote better sleep, relieve symptoms of stress and anxiety, and improve energy, alertness, and concentration.

Is a gratuity expected?
Massage and Bodywork therapists are considered to be a part of the service industry and most clients do leave a gratuity as a way to say “thank you” for the excellent service that was provided. At Freedom Day Spa a tip is never expected, but always appreciated.

Hot Stone Therapy: Enjoy a relaxing bodywork session built by you and the communication of your needs with the added use of warm stones. Please know that we add the stones to your session we do not simply place them on your body as we feel it is more productive to use them as we are working the muscles and areas you have communicated needs for. Hot stones are used to allow deeper penetration into your muscle layers in order to remove those unwanted knots and relieve the tension in those painful areas.
Deep Tissue: The session will focus on trigger points and knots within your body. Pressure used will be in the hands of the customer. This generally is a full body massage unless otherwise specified by the client.

Facials:

PCA Non-toxic Chemical Peel: This powerful exfoliating treatment is the best choice for acne and severe sun damage. It is formulated using a combination of AHA’s, Salicylic & Kojic acids in an Ethanol base and is available with or without Hydroquinone to allow for maximum results and flexibility.

American Deep Pore: This is a true deep pore cleansing facial, this treatment delivers results. The efficiency of the facial derives from professional exfoliation “enzyme” , followed by massage under steam for relaxation. Next we use the infra-ray heat mask layered over herbal infused cotton in order to deep heat the facial tissue for extractions to remove clogging. We end with a galvanic mask which forces healing or hydrating solution deep into the dermis rather than a simple topical face mask. Hand and foot massage is included.

Teen Facial: Targets hormonal needs of teenagers, helps control current breakouts and prevents future blemishes. Up to 18 years of age.

Back “Facial”: A custom facial for the hard to reach areas of the back which begins with deep cleansing, glycolic, steam, and extractions. A relaxing back and neck massage is followed by a soothing detoxifying mask.
Other Services:

Reflexology: A reflexology session consists of a specific sequence of massage on the reflexes of the hands, feet, and scalp; fine tuning your body like we tune up our cars. Reflexology affects the organs, systems, bones, joints and muscles of the body. Some benefits are; reduced swelling, pain and body stress all while eliminating body waste and restoring the body’s functions.

Ion Foot Detoxification: Soak your feet in a bath which consists of a salt mixture as well as an a machine that delivers electrodes which will initiate the detoxification process. The process allegedly works based on the idea of electrolysis. With your feet in the water, small amounts of electricity will run through the water. The salt in the water will ionize the electrical current, dividing it into negative and positive ions. The negative ions travel up through your feet, go through your body and gather toxins. They then deposit them in the pool. The pool will then fill up with strangely colored substances. You simply have to sit while the machine does the work for you. You may feel a tingling sensation in your feet or even slight soreness when you are done.

Body Wraps: For these wraps you will be wrapped in aloe vera and an herbal wrap. You will then be placed in a comfortable position on the bed and be able to rest while the wraps do the rest of the work. These wraps target fat cells not water weight. Aloe and herbs work together to attack fat cells, deplete them of toxins and transport the toxins to the lymphatic system for you to flush out with water. This creates an immediate inch loss and continues as you drink your water while also softening and eventually removing cellulite. Measurements are included with the wraps.

Waxing: Waxing removes body hair from the root using hot wax. Hot wax must be melted before use. It is then applied to the skin, where it adheres to the individual hairs. A cloth is used to pull the wax off, taking with it the unwanted hair. For a few hours after waxing the skin can appear to be red, irritated, inflamed and bumpy.
Pre-procedure prep for waxing: For optimal results, the hair needs to be at least a quarter inch long. Do not shave or otherwise remove hair for a week prior to your appointment for best results.

Instructions for after waxing: No fake tans, massages, extreme heat treatments (very hot baths or showers, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs), swimming, sunbathing (including sun beds or any other exposure to UV light) or tight clothing for 24-48 hours. Try and avoid exercise for 24-hours as getting sweaty could clog the hair follicles. Do no scratch or touch the area with unwashed hands.Avoid applying deodorant, anything perfumed or make-up to the waxed area for 24 hours.
